Artificial or Just Superficial?

Living in Los Angeles, and even more than that, close to Hollywood, the idea of artificial and superficial blend in. But, at a closer look, they might even be synonymous.
“Artificial: Made in imitation of something natural; simulated, not genuine or natural.” “Superficial - shallow, materialistic, and even exhibiting false emotions through an exaggerated affect display.”

How many times did you really mean the expression “How are you?” Were you really interested in how that person was doing or you just used it as a form of salutation?
Living in a metropolis, gives people the “chance” to play with words, to be artificial and superficial at the same time. We don’t really care how the other person is doing because, after all, we are busy with our own already full plate. So, then, why all the pretense? Why all the negative energy and false emotions behind the actions? We are humans, and by definition we are creating human desires, emotions, so why not create something beautiful if it takes the same amount of time and vigor?

Just because we live in a fast-paced society, that we already know is not going to slow down, we should not be quick and expandable with the thoughts we put out there in the universe and with the way we treat people. Everybody wants the best of whatever is out there for himself; well, can he wish the same for his friends and even for his enemies? It takes the same amount of power and determination.

We just need to mean what we say and say what we mean; quit playing the games nobody benefits from, not even you! Be real, be you, be kind, and be happy for the ones around you, for the energy you put into that is coming back to you twofold!
Superficiality and artificiality never benefited anybody even if it seems like that to the foolish minds.

Humanity needs thinkers and doers with a true mind and an open heart! Be the ones we need!

  1. wonderful post! I can admit to being superficial at times...but I NEVER want to be artificial.
